Tokyo Revengers: Who Is Draken? (Facts & Trivia)

The vice leader of Tokyo Manji may appear fierce and intimidating, but there is much more to him than meets the eye.

Draken is more than Mikey’s right-hand man and muscle-head; he’s the stereotypical tough guy with a golden heart.

The Tokyo Manji Gang‘s heart is hidden behind Draken’s ice-cold stare and powerful muscles, and without Draken, they would lose sight of what is right and wrong.

Who is Draken?

Tokyo Revengers characters
Draken is protective of the people he considers his family.

Draken is an important member of Toman. He is constantly on the lookout for Mikey and considers each Toman member to be a member of his family, going above and beyond to protect them. Anyone who watches Tokyo Revengers will be inspired by his strength and bravery.

Draken stands out from the other characters in the series due to his loyalty and determination. His physical abilities are impressive, but his mental strength is unrivaled.

Personality of Draken

Vice-President Draken, like the president, is a wild individual, enjoys a good fight, and takes on strong opponents. He is rude to those he considers beneath him and expresses his dislike for them.

Draken, unlike Mikey, is the more mature and analytical of the two. When the two are being chastised in the hospital by the father of a girl who was assaulted by Moebius, Draken is the one who forces Mikey to apologize, understanding the man’s rage and that it was better to accept his rage without saying anything than to try to defend themselves. When Pah-chin decides to take the blame and responsibility for Toman by purposefully getting arrested, Mikey tries to convince him to flee.

Draken, on the other hand, stops him, saying that it is the right thing for Pah-chin to do. Draken’s anger can get the best of him at times, and he lashes out in rage.

Draken is also a very caring person. He despises outward displays of affection toward those he loves but will go to great lengths to care for Mikey. He tolerates Mikey’s antics and considers him a close friend; he carries Mikey around when he falls asleep, takes him to his favorite restaurants, and wakes him up every morning for school. In addition, he gave Emma a plushie for her birthday, which Emma says she had wanted for a long time.

Facts and Trivia On Draken

Draken kicking someone
Draken is tall and muscular.

Draken is a muscular adolescent who is unusually tall for his age. The sides and back of his head are shaved to reveal his signature dragon tattoo on his left temple. His blonde hair is long on top of his head and neatly braided. He lets a few strands of hair fall out in front.

He has chiseled abdominal muscles and is confirmed to be quite lean. Takemichi observed that his body was not that of a teenager. Draken was stabbed and had a scar on the left side of his abdomen. While with the gang, he wears the standard Toman Toppoku, and his favorite casual outfit appears to be a patterned long jacket.

Now let’s discuss the facts and trivia about Draken.

He Only Allows Mikey To Call Him “Ken-Chin”

Draken’s real or full name is Ken Ryuguji, but the majority of the cast does not address him as such. While he is mostly known as “Draken,” he does allow (for the most part) one person to call him something much cuter.

Draken’s childhood friend Mikey has the distinct honor of referring to the big bad Draken as “Ken-Chin.” Mikey has had a special nickname for his best friend and future right-hand man since they were children. While Draken still doesn’t like it when Mikey calls him this endearing nickname, no one in the world would ever be able to call Draken that without receiving a severe beating.

From Season 1 to Season 2, His Voice Actor Changed

Tatsuhisa Suzuki, is best known for his roles as Makoto Tachibana in Free! Masashi in Gintama, and Takao Kazunari in Kuroko’s Basketball, voiced Draken in season one of the Tokyo Revengers Anime. Suzuki, on the other hand, announced that he would be taking an indefinite break from all professional activities at the end of the first season.

Masaya Fukunishi, a voice actor, will be voicing Draken in the upcoming season. While he has had a few minor roles in Blue Period and Haikyuu!!, he is a newer, upcoming voice actor who is eager to land his first major role. He has the support of the entire Tokyo Revengers fanbase.

He is not Friends With Kazutora

Draken may have had an uneasy feeling about Kazutora since the incident with Mikey’s older brother, Shinichiro, and had every reason to act on it. Draken despises Kazutora and even claims to be afraid of him. Mikey may be insane at times, but he is always fiercely loyal to his friends and couldn’t bring himself to hate Kazutora after everything he had done.

It implies that Kazutora’s response to his childhood trauma with Baji and Shinichiro was not handled well or in a healthy manner. Kazutora incorrectly blamed Mikey for all of his misfortune, and Draken was aware that this could be dangerous. Perhaps Draken just had a bad feeling about Kazutora from the start, but it’s more likely that Draken’s anxiety about Kazutora stems from Draken’s desire to protect Mikey.

His Given Name Has A Significant Meaning

Draken’s full name not only sounds cool, but it also has a meaning that fits him perfectly. “Ken” means “hard” or “firm” in Japanese, which fits his tough-guy persona and unwavering will. His surname is then divided into three parts: “Ryu,” “gu,” and “ji.”

In Japanese, “Ryu” means “dragon,” referring to the signature dragon tattoo on his head. Meanwhile, the characters “gu” and “ji” roughly translate to “shrine,” “temple,” or “place.” Draken, like a dragon, is extremely powerful, but he keeps his power within himself and only unleashes it when absolutely necessary.

His Exceptional Skill Is Counseling

Draken has grown accustomed to acting as a counselor for those around him as a result of his difficult upbringing. Draken was taken in by a brothel at a young age and eventually called it home. He frequently assists with housekeeping around the brothel and, of course, is well acquainted with the girls who work there.

Draken is an excellent listener, which may come as a surprise. Draken is constantly surrounded by young women who, presumably, have many problems to complain about. Working in a brothel can be difficult, and these young ladies are likely to encounter difficult customers or even dangerous situations on a regular basis.

He Bathes With A Shampoo Guard

Draken, aside from Kazutora, wouldn’t have a fear in the world, would he? Apparently, getting shampoo in his eyes is something he fears greatly enough to wear a shampoo guard. Draken has a mostly shaved head, but he still has his long braid to lather up in the bath.

In one episode, Draken is revealed to use a shampoo eye shield or visor (typically worn by small children) whenever he bathes, and Mikey mocks him for it. Draken, at his age, should be able to rinse his hair safely without assistance.

Muscle Training Is His Favorite Recreation

Muscle training is, unsurprisingly, one of Draken’s favorite pastimes. Draken must be as strong as he can in order to fight for Toman’s good name and to defend his friends.

Draken is off working out, building his muscles, when he isn’t busy with Toman meetings, helping out at home, or looking after Mikey and making sure he always has the little flag in his kids’ meals.

Draken isn’t all talk; he’s got the muscle to back up his tough guy persona.

Hot Curry Is His Favored Dish

Mikey may enjoy children’s meals (perhaps for the little flag), but Draken has a more refined palate. Draken’s favorite cuisine is spicy curry. While curry originated in South Asian cuisine, it is now a popular dish in Japan and is served at many Japanese restaurants.

There are many non-spicy Japanese curry options, but the fierce vice leader of the Tokyo Manji Gang would prefer the heat with his curry and rice.

Final Verdict

The deputy leader of Tokyo Manji may come across as scary and ferocious, but there is much more to him than meets the eye. Draken is more than just Mikey’s muscular man; he is the prototypical badass with a good heart.

The Tokyo Manji Gang’s heart is hidden behind Draken’s ice-cold stare and powerful muscles, and they would lose sight of what is right and wrong if Draken were not there.

In Tokyo Revengers, Draken is a clear fan favorite, so it’s understandable that everyone in the fandom wants to learn more about him. Here are some facts about Toman’s vice-leader, Draken, that not every Tokyo Revengers fan knows.
