Is The Reiss Family The True Royal Family?

The current Eldian royal dynasty, descending from the First King of the Walls, is the Reiss family.

After the Great Titan War, they split off from the original royal line, pretended to be a small noble family residing in northern wall Sina, and established a false King and royal family to further deflect attention.

The Founding Titan was handed amongst ruling kings every 13 years until Grisha Jaeger stole it in the year 845.

The current queen and only known surviving member of the line are Historia Reiss, the late Rod Reiss’s illegitimate daughter.

Who is the Reiss Family?

The Reiss family is Eldia’s current royal family, derived from Karl Fritz, the First King of the Walls.

After the Great Titan War, they split from the original royal family and masqueraded as a minor noble family dwelling inside northern Wall Sheena, setting up a false King and royal family to deflect attention away from themselves.

The Founding Titan was handed amongst ruling monarchs every 13 years until it was stolen by Grisha Yeager in 845. Historia Reiss, the illegitimate daughter of the late Rod Reiss, is the current queen.

Where did the Reiss Family come from?

The royal family was referred to as the Fritz family in antiquity. The family sprang from Ymir Fritz, the first Titan, whose ancestors established the country of Eldia.

Except for Paradis Island, Eldia did, however, lose most of its territory to Marley near the end of the Great Titan War

The 145th Fritz King relocated Eldia’s capital to Paradis Island and built the walls with the help of many colossal-sized Titans using the strength of the Founding Titan.

To convince the Eldians that they were the last of mankind in a world overrun by the Titans, he erased their memories of the outside world after bringing many Eldians to the island.

The Ackermann clan and the Oriental clan, who belonged to minority bloodlines but were not subjects of Ymir, were exempt from this brainwashing.

Those who complied with the First King of the Walls’ instructions gained nobility status. But the Oriental clan and the Ackermann family dissented, and as a result, they were nearly wiped off by hunting.

To defend his subjects, the First King sent a warning to the Marleyan government, threatening to unleash millions of sleeping Titans upon Earth if they interfered with his vision of peace.

But this threat was just a bluff to secure a stable peace. To guarantee that he and his successors would never use the Founding Titan’s power to start a war and would instead remain silent should the world invade in retaliation, the First King took a pledge to renounce war with it in private.

Following this, the island’s new royal family dropped the Fritz moniker and changed their last name to Reiss.

However, some members of the royal family choose to remain on the continent that Marley is now in charge of.

Free Later, King Reiss delivered the Founding Titan to his successor before passing away.

For the following 100 years, the Reiss family ruled the Walls covertly by posing as a minor noble family residing in Wall Sina close to the Orvud District. Their leader would be the King of the Walls.

Are Reiss and Fritz related?

The names Fritz and Reiss are descended from the same family. They adopted the surname Reiss to shield Fritz ancestry and conceal their identities inside the wall.

Following the Great Titan War, the Reiss family split off from the original royal line, pretended to be a small noble family residing in northern wall Sheena, and installed a phoney King and royal family to further deflect attention from themselves.

Freida Reiss is the true queen of the walls.

They held the Founding Titan and the vanished memories of humanity inside the walls for about a century, passing them along from one generation to the next.

The reigning Queen of the walls is Historia Reiss, the deceased Rod Reiss’s illegitimate daughter.

Why is Royal Blood so important in AOT?

Characters with royal ancestry are thought to be descended directly from Ymir Fritz, the first Founding Titan, and Ruler Fritz, the first king of Eldia.

Around the end of Season Two, the Anime introduces the idea of having royal blood, which becomes more prevalent in Season Three.

But unlike the Subjects of Ymir, persons with royal blood in this sense are descended from King Fritz and are not blood relatives.

Compared to the Subjects of Ymir, royal blood also offers unique benefits.

To unleash the Titans’ full potential, especially the Rumbling, which is heavily discussed at the end of the series, royal blood is required.

Beyond what was seen in the Nine Titans from the episode, the initial Founding Titan that Ymir was in charge of possessed enormous power.

She could, in particular, manipulate other titans precisely, enabling her and King Fritz to raise a legion of titans.

The Founding Titan belongs to ErenYeager in the series, but she is unable to harness all of its potentials.

He needs to be in contact with someone of royal blood at the very least to activate this and start the Rumbling.

Royal blood is necessary to unleash the Titans’ full potential, notably the Rumbling, which is widely detailed near the end of the series.

Why is the Reiss Family a True Royal?

Within the walls, the Reiss family is the real royal family. Their family name was Fritz when the walls were first constructed, but they changed it to Reiss and installed a puppet king to stop anyone from snatching the power of the Founding Titan from them.

After Ymir and King Fritz passed away, the Eldian Empire gradually became unstable as a result of family feuds fuelled by the might of the Titans, and it finally fell apart during the Great Titan War a century ago.

A newly revived Marley took seven of the Nine Titans and the majority of Eldia’s land, and many Eldians withdrew and were imprisoned on Paradis Island, which made up Eldia’s last remaining domain.

Karl Fritz, the reigning monarch at the time, built the Walls to keep Eldia safe from Marley and the rest of the world.  To preserve the royal lineage, he later changed their last name to Reiss.

To prevent anyone from subverting the government, he erased people’s memories with the Founding Titan and employed the military police.

What makes Attack on Titan the best anime of the decade?

Attack on Titan has all of the ingredients for a fantastic show. It is the convergence of the best in every aspect, and in my opinion, no other anime is as well-rounded.

  • Excellent plot
  • Diversity of tastes
  • Coherence
  • True to its themes
  • Insane foreshadowing
  • Development of storyline

Conclusion

  • In the past, the Reiss family was referred to as the Fritz Family.
  • The 145th ruler of this Fritz family was Charles Fritz. He relocated the capital to Paradis Island, where he employed the Titan Progenitor to assist him to build three walls.
  • As the son of a monarch, Reiss carried a great deal of responsibility. Many Reiss family members became power crazy as a result of having to deal with the responsibilities of growing up with secret information.
  • Over the years, the royal family passed the Founding Titan along from one generation to the next.
