What Are The 10 Ranks In Demon Slayer? (Explored)

A group known as the Demon Slayer Corps has existed to protect people against demons since the beginning of time.

Members of the Demon Slayer Corps can be anyone. Prior to that, they must complete the Final Selection, an entrance test in which contestants must survive on their own for seven days on a mountain covered in demons.

Candidates are initiated into the Demon Slayers Corps and awarded the lowest rank of ten, Mizunoto, after successfully completing the Final Selection.

To advance and reach the top, they must perform a variety of assignments.

How to Join Demon Slayer Corp?

To join the Demon Slayer Corps, one must pass the Final Selection, which functions as an entrance examination.

During this selection, examinees must survive seven days without assistance from the outside world on a mountain summit coated in demons.

Candidates who pass the Final Selection receive their standard uniform and the chance to choose the ore for their special sword, which is designed to slay Demons effectively.

Each new Demon Slayer is also given a special kind of talking bird to utilize for communication.

There are 10 different ranks for members of the Demon Slayer Corps.

A Demon Slayer is categorized as a member of the lowest rank, Mizunoto, once they have acclimated to the group.

To ultimately advance through the ranks and become Kinoe, the top Demon Slayer position, they must perform a variety of missions.

Each swordsman receives their rank after the Final Selection through a procedure known as “Wisteria Flower Engraving” on their hand.

They can check their rank as they advance as swordsmen by uttering a password and flexing their arms to display their status.

What is the Lowest Rank in Demon Slayer?

The Mizunoto rank is the lowest post in the Demon Slayer Corps.

This rank is given to beginner-level Demon Slayers (new organization members).

They must complete a number of tasks in order to finally climb the ranks and reach the highest Demon Slayer Rank: Kinoe.

The other Demon Slayer Corps ranks are largely unknown. Even the promotion does not take place in an orderly fashion.

We only know that Mizunoto is the starting point for demon slaying, followed by Kinoe, who eventually satisfies the qualifications to become a Hashira.

What is the Highest Rank in Demon Slayer

The highest rank in the Demon Slayer Corps is thought to be Kinoe. Its superior, the Hashira, is still around.

The only combatant more skilled than the members of this team is the organization’s leader.

To be eligible to join the Hashira, a Demon Slayer must either effortlessly defeat 50 demons or be a Kinoe in the Twelve Kizuki.

Who are the Hashiras and Tsuguko?

The Hashira are an elite group that exists inside the Corps. The nine best fighters in the organisation are represented in this group.

In case they pass away or retire, the Hashira are constantly hunting for someone to take their place.

The Nine Hashira are the most senior members of the Corps, second only to the organization’s leader, due to their enormous strength.

A Demon Slayer must either kill 50 Demons or one of the Twelve Demon Moons, a collection of the most potent demons in existence who directly serve the Demon Lord, Muzan Kibutsuji, in order to be qualified to join the Hashira.

The Hashira are always looking for someone to succeed them in case they pass away or retire.

A Successor (Tsuguko) is a highly competent fighter assigned to the Demon Slayer Corps as one of the Hashira’s apprentices and eventual successors.

A Demon Slayer can either apply for the post and be accepted or they can be discovered by one of the existing Hashira, which is one of the two methods to become a Tsuguko.

While it’s not a requirement, a Tsuguko typically adopts the same breathing styles as its Hashira.

When a Hashira is no longer able to perform their duties as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, such as when they retire or pass away, the Tsuguko aim to replace them.

Each Hashira is tasked with guarding a specific area. Along with learning about demons, they must also practice growing in strength.

Many lower-ranked demon slayers participate in the special training session known as Hashira Training, which is led by the Hashira.

The goal of this training is to increase all Slayers’ physical prowess and general health, providing members of the Demon Slayer Corps a better chance of triumphing in the battle against the Demons.

Each of the Hashira is in charge of a certain area of the training scheme.

The most common forms of exercise are fundamental endurance exercises, flexibility exercises, speed exercises, fencing exercises, hammering exercises, and strength exercises.

With a few notable outliers that see the workout as an opportunity to get better, most slayers view this training as an unending trip to hell due to how taxing it is.

In general, the Pillars are required to attend the training sessions.

Both Pillars and Slayers benefit from continual attacks from lower-ranked Slayer waves, hence this is seen as a win-win situation for both groups.

Who are the Kakushi?

The Kakushi are part of a brigade that assists the Demon Slayer Corps.

To hide their identity, they dress in black versions of the standard Demon Slayer outfits, which include a gakuran jacket and hakama pants.

They also wear black headgear and a black and white mask. The Kakushi brigade is in charge of carrying out a variety of duties, such as helping Corps soldiers and cleansing the area following demonic assaults.

Other jobs carried out by the Kakushi include cleaning up the messes frequently left behind after major battles, sewing and mending the uniforms worn by Slayers, and transporting people to and from the Swordsmith Village.

They also serve as attendants at the Butterfly Estate, where they help the residents of the manor and those who heal there.

The Kakushi are the Demon Slayers who have retired from the Corps due to injury in some instances.

There are some people who did not do well on the Final Selection exam but still wanted to help the Corps, therefore they became Kakushi.

Leader of Demon Slayer

The Demon Slayer Corps leader is responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations.

Although nothing is known about the post, it appears to be connected in some way to the Ubuyashiki Family

His peers and subordinates refer to him as Oyakata-sama, and he serves as the head of the Ubuyashiki Family.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the 97th head of the Corps, served as the final leader before the Corps was disbanded.

Until an illness forced Kagaya Ubuyashiki to stay in bed, he spent every day of his life visiting the graves of the deceased Demon Hunters.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki
All men from the Ubuyashiki family can’t live for more than 30 years because of the curse inflicted upon them.

At an early age, Kagaya rose to become the commander of the Demon Slayer Army. When Amane was 13 and Kagaya was 17, they first met.

She was picked by a priest to be Kagaya’s wife precisely so that he could take care of her medical requirements, but he only consented to the marriage on the condition that she care for him of her own free will.

What is Tanjiro’s Rank?

Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Tanjiro have all advanced to the rank of Kanoe, which is the fourth rank from the bottom.

They passed the final selection test and were promoted as a result of their time spent demon-hunting with Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train.

Before Inosuke showed him how to use the Wisteria Flower Engraving method to check their level, Tanjiro thought he was still a Mizunoto and was unaware that he was moving up the ranks.

The user can demonstrate their rank as a demon slayer by uttering the password and flexing their arm.

Tanjiro from Demon Slayer is from the Rank Kanoe.

Conclusion

  • The Hashiras are demon slayers with a Kinoe ranking who have destroyed either 50 demons or one of the 12 Demon Moons. Therefore, they are technically the top-ranked team.
  • Demon Slayer’s ranking system is simple to comprehend. It also enables us to follow the development of the lead character.
  • The strongest character in the current Anime is not Tanjiro. Though he still has a ways to go, he is developing. And let’s hope he eventually makes it there.
