The 10 Jujutsu Kaisen Side Characters, Ranked

The secondary characters in the Jujutsu Kaisen Anime are largely odd. Some sorcerers, such as Mai Zenin and the afflicted spirit Mahito, are deplorable.

A tremendously popular shonen Manga called Jujutsu Kaisen just made its big-screen debut with Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie.

The Anime’s appeal stems from the introduction of multifaceted characters, its gloomy undertone, and occasional lighthearted humor. Not all of its characters, meanwhile, are as endearing as its primary cast.

Fans dislike several of the show’s supporting characters more than they love them.

Some are really malevolent, while others are just irritable characters that followers adore hating.

What exactly is Jujutsu Kaisen?

Gege Akutami sketched and demonstrated the Japanese manga series Jujutsu Kaisen.

Since March 2018, it has been serialized in Shueisha’s shnen manga magazine Weekly Shnen Jump, with chapters collected and published in 21 tankbon volumes as of December 2022. The plot tails Yuji Itadori, a high school student, as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers to eliminate a powerful Curse get to know as Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the innholder.

Jujutsu Kaisen is a sequel to Akutami’s Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, which was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA from April to July 2017 and was later collected in a tankbon volume titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which was unleashed in December 2018.

What is the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen?

Yuji Itadori is a physically fit high school student from Sendai. Yuji’s grandfather instills two powerful messages in him on his deathbed: “always help others” and “die surrounded by people.”

When Yuji’s friends from the Occult Club opened a rotten finger talisman to protect Megumi Fushiguro and his friends, they attracted a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna to their school. Because of Sukuna’s evil nature, all sorcerers must immediately exorcise him (and, by extension, Yuji).

At the same time, a group of cursed spirits, including the Cursed spirit Mahito and a corrupted sorcerer named Suguru Geto, who was executed by Gojo a year before, plan a multi-layered invasion on the world of jujutsu sorcery. At the exchange event between the Tokyo and Kyoto jujutsu schools, the principal of the Kyoto school wants Yuji dead right away. Others, including fellow student Nobara Kugisaki, side with Gojo in order to keep Yuji alive.

After several missions, it is proclaimed that the disfigured Kyoto Jujutsu Tech second-year student Kokichi Muta, who pilots Mechamaru, is a mole. Geto and the cursed spirits erect a barrier over Shibuya, and various sorcerers arrive to combat them.

After several missions, it is revealed that the disfigured Kyoto Jujutsu Tech second-year student Kokichi Muta, who pilots Mechamaru, is a mole. Geto and the cursed spirits erect a barrier over Shibuya, and various sorcerers arrive to combat them. Gojo fights cursed spirits and exorcises Hanami, a high-ranking cursed spirit, but is sealed away in an artifact by Geto, while Nobara is killed by Mahito.

The events also reveal that the current Geto is not the original Geto but rather Geto’s corpse, which has been possessed by an ancient sorcerer named Kenjaku. Yuji and his allies face off against Kenjaku’s forces while Gojo remains trapped inside the artifact.

As the incident concludes, Kenjaku reveals that he has been jumping from body to body for thousands of years, implanting Binding Vows and awakening thousands of new sorcerers throughout Japan, including Megumi’s step-sister, Tsumiki Fushiguro. He then bestows a slew of curses on Japan, ushering in chaos and a world filled with cursed spirits reminiscent of the Heian period.

These supporting characters are the worst and stand in stark contrast to the cherished protagonists, whether they are heroes, villains, or neither.

List of worst side characters of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Momo Nishimiya

Momo Nashimiya is friendly and loves helping others

Momo Nishimiya participates in the Kyoto school’s plan to assassinate Yuji even though she doesn’t officially do anything wrong.

Furthermore, despite not being worthy of the victory, she defeated Kugisaki Nobara in the Exchange Event.

Compared to Nobara, she is dreadfully outmatched, but her allies step in at the last minute to save her.

Even though this JJK bout lives up to the expectations, it comes to a frustrating conclusion.

Because she doesn’t merit her victories or status, fans think she is the worst.

She also interferes with one of the major heroes’ growth and takes part in a conspiracy to murder another protagonist.

Personality

Momo makes her initial impression as a shy girl who is frightened by the Tokyo School pupils.

She is friendly with the other female students at her school, Kasumi and Mai, and she thinks that women are treated unfairly in the jujutsu community in comparison to men.

This bias impacts Momo’s personality because she is depicted as being very concerned with her beauty and “cuteness.”

Momo also readily adopts the viewpoint that Yuji is a threat to everyone, which leads her to develop a rivalry with Nobara Kugisaki.

Despite having a tumultuous connection with some of the pupils, she is a team player and will try her hardest to assist in a time of need.

Junpei Yoshino

Fans can’t help but believe Junpei Yoshino had a part in his tragic fate despite the fact that he is a tragic figure.

He becomes friends with the demonic, cursed spirit Mahito in order to cope with the bullying he encounters at school.

The protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori, becoming friends with Junpei also irritates fans.

Junpei ultimately decides to follow the unreliable cursed ghost. Mahito uses his Idle Transfiguration to kill him as a result, breaking the hearts of his admirers.

Despite being a favorite JJK character among fans, Junpei is among the worst due to his gullibility and refusal to pick Yuji.

Personality

Junpei is an introverted, apathetic person who dislikes other people. He holds an extremely poor opinion of people and of society in general.

He wouldn’t click the button that would murder everyone he despises even if it were there.

Hanami

Hanami from Jujutsu Kaiden.

Hanami wasn’t the worst of the Cursed Spirits that the jujutsu sorcerers had to deal with in Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen, but Hanami was annoying because she kept coming back and because she always had a plan and a way out.

Hanami was a significant hazard at the Kyoto Goodwill Event as well.

Itadori and Aoi Todo would have been in big trouble if not for Gojo (who in that case did not even kill Hanami.

Hanami poses a serious threat to beloved characters even if she is not as irritating or unsettling as Jogo and Mahito.

Personality

Hanami is discovering how to accept his personality and enjoy the excitement of combat.

Hanami is the kind of spirit that protects the world that humans have been mistreating for a very long time.

Mai Zenin

Not only did Mai Zenin’s Anime debut leave a terrible taste in viewers’ mouths, but it also did so for Nobara.

She detested Mai’s manner of speaking to her and Maki.

Mai was angry that Maki, who lacks the energy of the curse, left her alone to suffer torture from the troublesome Zenin clan. She then vented her anger on her sister.

In spite of her brashness, Mai finally faced out against her sister during the Kyoto Goodwill arc, and she was horribly unprepared and underpowered.

Although Mai is neither a horrible nor a weak character, she needs to undertake a lot more self-reflection before she can be considered a fan favorite.

Personality

Mai was a disgruntled sorcerer who frequently vented her resentment at Maki and her adversaries.

Because of her experiences, she has a caustic and unpleasant disposition. She likes to stroke her own ego and is crude.

Mai doesn’t particularly care for Aoi Todo, but she surrounds herself with him to appear more resilient than she actually is.

Juzo

Juzo did not stay for very long. He was a featured participant in the Kyoto Goodwill Event, and despite his obsession with crafting objects from human bones.

He was somehow not as terrifying as some of the other Cursed Spirits, such as Mahito. Overall, I thought his character was underwhelming.

While Yoshinobu Gakuganji, the headmaster of the Kyoto Sorcerer Academy, did manage to hold his own against him, Gojo quickly and humiliatingly defeated him once the barrier was broken.

He ultimately mostly functioned as comic relief and a slight roadblock to prevent the headmaster from assisting his students.

Personality

Juzo is a very violent person who is obviously insane. He is insane, disobeys rules, and just wants to kill people and use their bodies as “hanging racks.”

Juzo has absolutely no interest in cursed spirits because they are exorcised and do not leave a body behind.

Jogo

Jogo considered himself to be one of the most powerful Cursed Spirits, even believing that his strength was comparable to Ryomen Sukuna’s.

He ultimately realized how conceited he was, and that conceit was what brought him to ruin.

He kept returning after numerous battles, including one with Gojo Satoru (with Hanami’s assistance), and he continued to believe that he was strong enough to compete against Gojo and Sukuna.

Gojo not only defeated Jogo, but the King of Curses also stopped him. Jogo is despised so much due to his might, yet he puts himself in awful situations without realizing it.

Personality

His arrogance characterised Jogo as a cursed spirit. He was a wise being, firm in all his convictions, and willing to offer his life for the sake of long-term success.

Jogo was an extremely ill-tempered, irritated, and haughty guy on a personal level.

Yoshinobu Gakuganji

Yoshinobu Gakuganji must rank among the worst school administrators to ever appear on TV.

Gakuganji tries to execute the Tokyo headmaster in addition to Yuji Itadori with the Kyoto students.

He demands respect from people he criticizes, which only makes the situation worse.

Additionally, he was essentially useless when the Cursed Spirits attacked during the Kyoto Goodwill Event.

His doomed technique’s cool and amusing aesthetic was his only saving grace, but it probably wasn’t enough to win many fans.

Personality

Yoshinobu, a fervent traditionalist, advocated for the death penalty for Yuji Itadori.

Satoru Gojo, in his opinion, is annoying and destructive, and their fight is fueled by Gojo’s personal animosity.

Gojo showed himself to be a cunning and dishonest character when it became clear he would prolong the proceedings.

Naobito Zenin

Naobito Zenin is a vicious, intoxicated brute who propagates an aggressive and harsh culture.

When the Zenin clan and its horrors are initially introduced in the programme, Naobito Zenin is in charge.

Naobito exhibits the same corruption and wickedness found in the sorcerer community that Gakuganji does.

Since he hasn’t been in the Anime as frequently as he has in the Manga, few Anime fans are familiar with him.

Fans are aware of his troublesome persona and myriad dark secrets hidden in his closet, as well as the complex Cursed Technique he uses called Projection.

They also recognize him as the cause of the Zenin clan’s unruly behavior, making him one of the worst characters.

Personality

Naobito, a haughty drinker who represents the Zenin Family’s perverted traditionalist ideals, is a perfect example of this.

He believes that his nieces are significantly less valuable as people than they should be because they were born without cursed energy.

Mahito

Mahito, a hero murderer who turns Junpei into a curse, infuriates a lot of admirers. He appears to be almost invulnerable in the Anime.

He twice eludes Kento Nanami, a sorcerer who is on Gojo’s level, and both times come dangerously close to killing Nanami.

Additionally, Mahito escapes Ryomen Sukuna, which seems contrary to what supporters anticipate from The King of Curses.

Mahito should have been taken out by Sukuna, yet he manages to live.

Due to his annoying enigmaticness and crimes against the heroes, he is one of the worst characters.

Personality

Mahito is a wicked young cursed ghost that enjoys manipulating people’s emotions.

He regards himself as the exact embodiment of human animosity for one another and thinks that he is the product of human crimes.

Mahito considers it appropriate to annihilate humanity and replace them with cursed spirits.

Naoya Zenin

After Naobito’s passing after the Shibuya Incident, the Zenin clan is led by Naoya Zenin, a character exclusive to Manga. He carries on the brutality and fear of his father.

Naoya is in many ways inferior to Naobito. He idolizes Toji Fushiguro, another villain, and is overconfident and narcissistic.

Fans cannot help but loathe Naoya for his terrible attitude and sadism, despite the fact that he is a well-written antagonist.

He is one of the worst characters in JJK since he is the obstinate byproduct of the corruption inside the jujutsu sorcerer community.

Personality

Naoya has an arrogant attitude. Naoya was often admired and called a genius by people from an early age.

Being the eldest and most promising of the Naobitos’ children, he was severely indulged and raised to see himself as his father’s replacement.
