Goku, along with main characters like Luffy and Naruto, is arguably one of the most well-known and influential shonen Anime protagonists in all of Anime. Almost everyone, Anime-watcher or not, would be able to recognize him unless you live under a rock or have no sort of knowledge of Anime at all.
For those who haven’t watched Dragon Ball, here’s a quick summary of its main character, Son Goku.
Son Goku, a Saiyan named Kakarot, is an Earth-raised Saiyan and the lead character of the Dragon Ball series.
Kakarot was initially sent to Earth as a newborn and was adopted by Grandpa Gohan, who named him Son Goku.
A childhood head injury alters Goku’s memory, freeing him from his violent nature and enabling him to grow and mature into one of Earth’s strongest defenders.
He’s constantly striving and training to be the strongest warrior conceivable, who has saved the entire planet and the universe numerous times.
By now, Goku has ascended the level of Anime logic and is arguably one of the strongest main characters in shonen fiction.

Is Goku too strong?
Goku is indeed too strong.
Most people believe that if a character’s position in the tale is adequately used, they are not overpowered within their own series. The problem is, Goku can’t use it as an excuse either.
Goku’s power has been so immense since he slew King Piccolo that he simply cannot carry out many plans.
Why doesn’t Goku have any personal issues?
Because he isn’t an introspective guy, Goku doesn’t have many personal difficulties.
There are Vegeta and Piccolo take his place. It also has nothing to do with his abilities. He can’t travel because he can fly billions of times the speed of light and teleport across the cosmos in an instant.
Anything you throw at him, he can solve with little effort. As a result, in order to have anything like a storyline involving him,
Is Goku an Overpowered Character?
He’s overpowered in every sense of the word; he defies all physical logic and has plot armor the likes of which only characters like Naruto can compare.
When Goku initially achieved Ultra Instinct during the Tournament of Power Arc, we were never shown the full extent of that form’s true power.
That full extent was shown to us after Goku finally used Ultra Instinct in his vicious battle with Moro, the Planet-Eater. I don’t want to spoil the Manga, but let’s just say, Ultra Instinct is so much stronger than we realize, This could possibly put him up to the level of Beerus and Whis.
If we talk about the power to dominate in a fight through sheer strength and willpower, Goku is perhaps second to none. despite him becoming so powerful and dominant, he’s still the same Goku we came to know and love, His personality or ego hasn’t changed a bit, even though he’s an old man now.
Goku, in all honesty, is an idiot, a moron, whos too honest and too honorable for his own good, which is why in many fights against weaker individuals, that don’t follow the same moral code as him, often ends up outsmarting and beating him, Nesecitating him to rely on his friends, The Z fighters.
So in terms of sheer strength, abilities, and fighting will, he’s incomparable to anyone in his universe. Yet, he’s as dumb as shonen’s protagonist get, which means that even though he can be dominating in a fight, he’ll surely find a way to mess up.
What is Goku’s Power Level Max?
Who can forget the legendary “IT’S OVER 9000!” meme from the original Dragon Ball? The term “9000” was used to numerically denote Goku’s power level in base form after training on King Kai’s planet.
His being over 9000 in terms of power level was very surprising as anything above 5000 could only be achieved by High-Level Royal Saiyans. 9000 was considered the epitome of Saiyans and was an exemplary feat on its own.
Those were the days when the characters were simple enough to be given numerical values. Current Goku’s (Mastered Ultra Instinct) power level is nigh-infinity, and there’s no way to calculate or assume his total power.
Funnily enough, Super Saiyan Goku was considered to be 150 million in terms of power level, making him star-level. This is only a normal Super Saiyan.
At the end of the Buu Saga, Gokus ssj3 is considered to be around 960 trillion-40 septillion, making him galaxy-level.
Since Goku is now able to transcend time, power levels can no longer be calculated or quantified as you can’t exactly calculate how much power it takes to be above time.
Now for Dragon Ball Super, I’m just going to use dimensional tiering.
First is SSJ God Goku who stands at least a low fifth dimension (low complex multiversal). I know it sounds unbelievable, but Goku and Beerus were on their way to annihilating the entire macrocosm, which is a 5D structure.
Then we have Super Saiyan Blue, which is stronger than SSJ God, and on top of that, we have the Kaio-ken multiplier compounding his power level.
Then finally, we have Ultra Instinct Goku with a power level Of 12 Septillion (Initial)-12.5 Septillion (Enraged). We’re gonna run out of numbers trying to power rank Goku.
Is Goku the most Powerful?
Chapter 85 of Dragon Ball Super Manga officially states that Goku is now the strongest warrior in Universe 7.
Note on the “warrior” part; he’s still weaker than the Gods of the Dragon Ball Multi-Verse. We have characters like:
Beerus
Beerus, being a God of Destruction will take a long time to defeat.
While the Super Saiyan God transformation line allows the Saiyan to give Beerus a good workout, it isn’t enough to defeat Beerus. Beerus can destroy solar systems with ease and his normal Ki Blast can kill Goku and Vegeta in their base forms.
It’s also worth mentioning that Beerus has yet to face off against Goku in any capacity.
Whis
Goku’s victory over Whis is also a milestone on the Dragon Ball protagonist’s journey toward becoming the utter and total strongest.
Whis is an expert on Autonomous Ultra Instinct mode, which Goku will find extremely difficult (if not impossible) to overcome.
As strong as Goku is right now, there’s very little doubt that Whis is weaker than the Saiyan protagonist.
Zeno
Zeno, the Omni-King of Dragon Ball’s Multiverse, might not be stronger physically than Goku, but he would easily prevail in the fight.
Zeno, as Omni-King, can completely obliterate anyone and everything from existence if he so desires.
Zeno certainly has more destructive potential than Goku, having been demonstrated to decimate celestial bodies for fun and erase universes when enraged.
How Strong is Goku in All of the Anime?
Although Goku is overpowered beyond belief, there are still characters that defy all logic and control the reality of their fictional verse.
Characters that have infinite power and are omnipotent would be able to outclass Goku.
Anti-Spiral
Gurren Lagann Anti-Spiral is a lifeform of beings in the Tengan Toppa series, which is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent. They can halt their evolution and seem to appear anywhere in both space and time.
They can demolish the entire Multiverse! They exist as a unified consciousness.
To put it in simple terms. The Anti-Spiral is unstoppable. They know everything and are everywhere. There isn’t much to say about what they are and aren’t capable of doing to Goku.
Nanika
Nanika inhabits the body of Killua’s younger sister, Alluka, and is a dark entity from the mysterious world of Hunter X Hunter.
After a person fulfills three of Alluka’s requests, Nanika will take over Alluka’s body and grant one wish. The greater the wish made to Nanika, the harder it is to fulfill the next three requests. The burden of these requests is to be borne by the next person that Alluka makes requests. If that person is unable to fulfill Alluka’s requests four times casualties will occur with the smallest causality being the death of at least 2 people. Nanika can grant an infinite number of wishes.
Nanika has the strength of a normal child because she’s inside Alluka’s body. Her physical ability can improve unless she decides to shift to a stronger body.
So if someone were to wish Goku to be dead, he’d die. Simple as that.
The Creator
The Creator, like the other deities, is firmly placed in Tier 0.
He might well surely give Goku a chance to withdraw from the fight in his infinite wisdom and compassion, but when has our Saiyan hero ever stepped away from a challenge?
We can imagine Goku’s most powerful move being a supercharged Spirit Bomb.
With all of his experience, he can most likely make the blue orb the size of a planet. But what good is that against an enemy with omniverse-level destructive power?
One sharp blink and Goku is gone; another blink, and he may be back, based on The Creator’s mood.
