Bleach: How Strong Is Kisuke Urahara?

Fans of Bleach were originally introduced to Kisuke Urahara as the proprietor of a candy shop who also had a side business selling items for Soul Reapers.

When Ichigo was sent back to Soul Society for execution, Rukia ended up training him to become a better Soul Reaper.

It was made evident right on that Kisuke was more than he first appeared to be because Benihime, his Zanpakuto, was one of the first characters introduced in the series.

Kisuke is one of the strongest Soul Reapers ever and a former Captain of Squad 12.

Soul Society also viewed Kisuke’s intelligence as unmatched, with even intellectual giants like Sosuke Aizen acknowledging that Kisuke thought more clearly than he did.

Several significant Bleach inventions were also made by Kisuke, like as the Hogyoku, which can transform Hollows into Arrancars.

In battles with the Arrancars, Aizen, and ultimately the Quincies, Kisuke has shown that his reputation as a warrior and genius is not unwarranted. But how strong is he really?

What is Bleach all about?

Since August 2001, Tite Kubo’s continuing manga series Bleach has been published in Weekly Shonen Jump.

Bleach chronicles the exploits of Rukia Kuchiki, a Shinigami, and Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school student with the gift of seeing ghosts.

The story’s early chapters mostly concentrate on the characters. As things continue, the narrative delves more deeply into the universe of these death gods.

A rock musical, some video games, a Trading Card Game, two animated television series, four animated feature films, and two OVAs have all been made from the Manga series.

The Manga’s compilation volumes have over 50 million copies sold in Japan and are at the top of the Manga sales lists in the US.

The Anime has been nominated for numerous American Anime Awards, while the Manga won the Shogakukan Manga Award in 2005.

Plot

Teenager Ichigo Kurosaki is endowed with the capacity to perceive ghosts. When Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper who controls the movement of souls between this life and the hereafter, appears out of nowhere in quest of a Hollow—a deadly lost soul—her life is irrevocably altered.

Rukia, who is seriously hurt while battling the Hollow, tries to give Ichigo half of her Reiatsu energy so that he can fight the monster.

But Ichigo absorbs almost all of her energy, turning into a Soul Reaper and easily taking down the Hollow.

Rukia is stuck in the human world while she rebuilds her strength because her abilities have been weakened.

While waiting for Rukia to return, Ichigo must step into Rukia’s position as a Soul Reaper, fending off Hollows and directing souls to the Soul Society.

As time goes on and Rukia still hasn’t returned to the Soul Society, her Soul Reaper superiors find out about her whereabouts and what she’s been up to, and they execute her for carrying out the forbidden act of transferring her powers.

Ichigo decides to save Rukia with the help of some of his spiritually astute classmates, Yoruichi Shihin, and ex-Soul Reaper Kisuke Urahara even though he is powerless to stop her from entering the Soul Society.

Once entering the Soul Society, Ichigo and his team engage in combat with Soul Reaper military leaders to reach Rukia before her execution.

Sosuke Aizen, a powerful Soul Reaper who was previously thought to have been killed, orchestrated the rescue operation as part of a grand scheme to seize control of the Soul Society.

Aizen betrays his fellow Soul Reapers and joins forces with the Espadas, the strongest of the Hollows and the Arrancars’ elite few.

As a result, Aizen emerges as the show’s primary enemy, and the Soul Reapers team up with Ichigo.

The conflict between the Soul Reapers and Aizen is currently being covered in Bleach.

Aizen wants to collect souls from Ichigo’s hometown to build the ken, a device that can open a portal to the location of the head of the Soul Society.

Ichigo takes on Aizen by himself after the Espadas are eliminated. When Aizen is rendered vulnerable, Urahara seals him, leaving Soul Society to hold him captive.

Ichigo Kurosaki is very strong in his Shinigami body.

Ichigo, however, loses his Reiatsu and reverts to being a regular human as a result of exhausting all of his Soul Reaper abilities to combat Aizen.

Who is Kisuke Urahara?

In the Anime and Manga series Bleach, Kisuke Urahara is a supporting figure.

He founded the Shinigami Research and Development Institute and served as its inaugural president in addition to serving as the division’s former captain.

His banishment has brought him to the Human World, where he now resides and operates the “Urahara Shop,” a modest convenience store that also sells Shinigami goods.

Urahara himself, along with his staff members Tessai Tsukabishi, Jinta Hanakari, and Ururu Tsumugiya keep the store in good working order.

He is also Ichigo Kurosaki’s mentor and Yoruichi Shihin’s longtime friend.

Personality of Kisuke Urahara

Although Urahara tends to be a laid-back, upbeat, humorous, friendly, and eccentric man, when the occasion calls for it, he exhibits a deceptively shrewd and serious side.

To divert his opponents, he frequently engages in idle chat and displays of care. Despite his carefree demeanor, he always uses good manners and is occasionally snarky in his speech.

Yoruichi Shihin observes that whenever he becomes excited about something, he has a tendency to overdo it.

Kisuke is a realistic combatant who considers it essential to use any means required to win and survive.

As a “simple honest, attractive, perverse businessman,” he has described himself.

In a fight for life and death, Kisuke is a practical fighter who believes that using any means necessary to win and survive is crucial.

One example of this is when he forms an alliance with Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez in advance to defeat Askin Nakk Le Vaar with a sneak attack from behind.

When he invented Gigais and Gikons, Kisuke, a former captain of the 12th team, demonstrated his abilities as a smart scientist.

He created a brand-new Kido that would confine Aizen. He told Aizen that the Hogyoku no longer see the former leader of the Fifth Squad as their master.

Proof why Urahara Kisuke is the strongest character

Powers of Kisuke Urahara

In battle, Kisuke depends on powerful Kido, his Zanpakuto, and various inventions he has made, such as an inflated Gigai he uses as a decoy.

With the ability to wield all three types of Kido—attacking Hado, defending Bakudo, and healing Kaido—Kisuke ranks among the series’ most skilled Kido users.

He was seen wielding lower-level Kido without them as well as the extremely potent Hado 91: Senju Koten Taiho with an invocation.

However, Kisuke’s Zanpakuto, Benihime, is his greatest strength. Shikai Benihime is a multipurpose sword that may be used for close-quarters and far-off fighting.

Similar to Ichigo’s Zangetsu, Benihime launches spiritual energy assaults from a distance; in this case, the energy is crimson and can take many different forms.

They include a torrent of energy blasts and a lengthy slash similar to Ichigo’s Getsuga Tensho technique.

Benihime’s energy can also be applied defensively to build a shield or to deflect an enemy’s blow by encircling it with an energy ring.

Shibari Benihime, another kind of Benihime, involves entangling opponents in a net of red energy.

Kisuke may also stab it, causing a massive, blazing explosion, and use it to make bombs that he can throw across the internet.

Kisuke Urahara’s Bankai

Kisuke’s Bankai is called Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame.

Kisuke’s Bankai is Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame.

It summons a huge, puppet-like woman to stand over Kisuke, and its powers are very different from Benihime’s.

Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame has given Kisuke the power to remake anything he comes into contact with.

In actual use, it operates with almost surgical precision, slicing enemies open as though dissecting them from a distance.

The Bankai’s impact is constrained, and leaving it will reverse any changes made. It can also close wounds, allowing Kisuke to temporarily heal his wounds before the Bankai is resealed.

However, this effect wears off after the Bankai is resealed.

The ability of Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame to forge new paths or move obstacles out of the way for allies suggests that it affects both the immediate environment and living things.

The surgical abilities of the Bankai are not limited to Kisuke, though. He keeps Benihime’s blade while the Bankai is active and is free to engage in regular combat.

Due to his ability to easily kill monsters like Sosuke Aizen and the Arrancar Yammy, Kisuke has risen to the top of Bleach’s most powerful characters.

Benihime and Bankai have only been utilized a few times each, and Kisuke may be concealing many more skills and talents.

In Tite Kubo’s next Echoing Jaws of Hell arc, Kisuke might make a reappearance and once again prove to be a powerful opponent for the Soul Reapers.

The Kisuke is undoubtedly one of the most potent Soul Reapers ever, but time can only tell.

Conclusion

  • Though Mayuri Kurotsuchi and Sosuke Aizen find it difficult to admit it, Kisuke Urahara is probably the most intelligent creature in the Bleach universe.
  • He is unnervingly composed in practically every circumstance, mostly because he has already thought through most of the necessary strategies.
  • He is the main character in the first arc of the story since he assists Ichigo in getting to Soul Society, but he remains important in the second and third arcs as well. Actually, during the Substitute Shinigami storyline and for Aizen’s eventual downfall, Urahara is to blame.
